Recruitment against sports Quota
1. South Western Railway Head Quarters invites applications in the prescribed format from eligible candidates for 12 (UR) Group "C" Posts against Zonal Railway Sports quota to be recruited in Pay Band-1 Rs.5200-20200 on Grade pay Rs. 1900/- for the year 2009-10.
2. The vacancies to be filled in the following games / events for SWR Railway Recruitment.

3. SW Railway Recruitment Educational Qualification:
Matriculation or its equivalent. Persons if appointed to the category of Clerk-cum-Typist should acquire Typing proficiency of 30 w.p.m. in English or 25 w.p.m. in Hindi within a period of two years from the date of appointment and till such time, their appointments to this category will be provisional.
4. South Western Railway Recruitment Age: 18 - 25 years as on 01-01-2010.
5. Sports norms for recruitment in Group 'C':
5.1 Sports person who has any of the following sports achievements in team or individual event, in any of the
Games as mentioned in the above table:
Represented the country in the International Championship in Olympic Games, World Cup, World Championships. Asian Games or Commonwealth Games. OR
Represented State or equivalent Unit, in Junior/Senior National Championship and obtained at least 3rd position. OR
Represented a University in All India Inter-University Championships organized under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities and obtained at least 3rd position in individual event or 2rd position in team event. OR
Represented State or equivalent Unit in the Federation Cup Championship (senior category) and obtained 1st position. OR
Represented the country in the international championships in Commonwealth Championships or Asian Championships and obtained at least 3rd position.
All the championships mentioned above shall be conducted under the aegis of recognised International/ National/State Sports Federation and also recognised by RSPB.
For the norms mentioned under 5.1 (ii) above, only senior National and Junior National Championships shall be taken into consideration. National Games, Rural Meets, Festival Meets and other similar tournaments shall not be considered.
In Cricket (Men and Women) at International level in senior category, representation of main Indian team in a test match or in Limited Overs One Day International Match shall also be considered for recruitment in Group "C".
In Cricket (Men and Women) at National level, representation of a state or equivalent unit or a zone of India, with the following sports achievements as mentioned against each tournament, conducted by BCCl, are also eligible for recruitment in Group "C" categories:

In Table Tennis, for recruitment in Group-C, sportsperson with current All India Ranking upto 16 in Seniors and upto 8 in Juniors shall also be eligible. The current Annual Ranking shall be considered for this purpose. In this connection only current All India Ranking in individual events (Singles) shall be taken into account. The Rankings in Doubles, Mixed Doubles shall not be considered.
In Badminton, for recruitment in Group "C", sportsperson with current Al! India Ranking upto 16 in Seniors and upto 8 in Juniors shall also be eligible. Only the current Annual Ranking shall be considered for this purpose. In this connection only current All India Ranking in individual events (Singles) shall be taken into account. The Rankings in Doubles, Mixed Doubles shall not be considered.
Application as per the format given below shall be submitted on A-4 size good quality paper. The application format should be in English/Hindi language only. The applications submitted in other than English/Hindi languages will be summarily rejected. The application should be filled in by the candidate in his/her own handwriting and signed.
The candidate has to affix one recent passport size photograph duly attested by a Gazetted Officer on the application in the space provided for the purpose. Candidate is also required to attach one extra passport size photograph along with the application.
7. SWR Recruitment Examination Fee:
The candidates have to send a crossed Indian Postal Order or Bank Demand Draft fa Rs. 40/ drawn in favour of FA & CAO, South Western Railway, HUBLI and payable at HUBLI. The candidates belonging to SC/ST community are exempted from payment of examination fees.
8. SW Railway Application Form:
Application complete in all respects should be sent in a cover addressed to Assistant Personnel Officer / Gaz & Conf, The application should reach on or before 21-12-2009.
The cover containing the application should be superscribed "Application for Group "C" post on sports quota for Zonal Railway Quota for the year 2009-2010".

9. South Western Railway Recruitment Process:
The recruitment will be based on trials, assessment of sports achievements and general intelligence / personality etc The candidates who are found fit in trials only will be considered for next stage.
10. SWR Railway General Conditions:
Before applying to the post, the candidate should ensure that he/she fulfils the eligibility norms.
The name and initial of the candidate and fathers name appearing in school / college certificates and in sports certificates shouid be one and the same There should be no difference.
The specific position (Forward / Back/ Goal Keeper/ Bowler etc.) played in the particular game/event if applicable should be mentioned without fail.
The candidates already employed in Central/States/PSUs including Railways should submit their applications through proper channel duly submitting a No Objection Certificate from their employer.
The decision of the Railway Administration in all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of the application, penalty for false information, and mode of selection shall be final and binding on the candidates.
Candidates recommended for appointment will have to pass the requisite medical fitness standards prescribed for the selected post.
Canvassing in any form shall disqualify the candidate.
The candidates should be in readiness to appear for the trials at short notice after the last date is over.
