Thermal Physics: Laws of thermodynamics, entropy, Carnot Cycle, Isothermal and adiabatic processes, thermodynamic potentials, Maxwell's relation, Joul-Kelvin effect, Kinetic theory of gasses, Maxwell's velocity distribution, mean free path, transport phenomenon Vander Wall's equation of state, Black body radiation, Stefan-Boltzmann law, Weins and Rayleigh Jean's law, Planks law, Weins displacement law.
Waves and Osciliations: Simple harmonic motion, damped oscillations, forced oscillations and resonance, wave equation and its solution, phase and group velocities. Acousic impedance, reflection and transmission of plane waves at a discontinuity, Ultrasonics.
