4. General Information for Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission TNPSC Recruitment:

A. The Rule of reservation of appointments is applicable to this post and the distribution of Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission vacancies will be as per rule in force.

B. The number of TNPSC vacancies advertised is only approximate and is liable to modification with reference to TNPSC vacancy position at any time before finalisation of selection for Oral Test or selection for appointment, as the case may be.

C. If no qualified and suitable woman candidates are available for selection against the TNPSC vacancies reserved for them, those vacancies will be filled by male candidates belonging to the respective communal categories.

D. Certificate Of Physical Fitness: Candidates selected for appointment to the post will be required to produce a certificate of physical fitness in the form prescribed for 'Executive Post'. The Standard of vision prescribed for the post is 'Standard-lll' or 'Better' Candidates with defective vision should produce eye fitness certificate from qualified eye specialist.

E. Reservation of appointment to "Destitute Widows" and "Ex-servicemen" will not apply to this recruitment.

F. Any claim relating to the selection (not related to candidature or/and claims made in the TNPSC application form) made by the candidate, who had written the examination should be received within 90 days from the date of announcement of results and any claim received thereafter will receive no attention.

5. Qualifications for TNPSC Exam 2010:

(A) Age (as on 01.07.2010):

Maximum TNPSC 2010 Age Limit: Should not have completed 35 years Note:

1. No maximum TNPSC age limit for SCs, STs, MBCs / DCs, BCs (Other than BCMs), , BCMs and Destitute Widows of all castes.
2. Age relaxation of 5 years in the maximum age limit will be applicable to persons affected by the ban order as per the orders issued in G.O.Ms.No.98,P&AR(S) Department, dated 17.07.06 and G.O.Ms.No.152, P&AR(S) Department, dated 18.09.06 and subsequent clarifications thereon.
3. Candidates not belonging to SCs, STs, MBCs / DCs, BCs (Other than BCMs), BCMs (i.e. 'others') who have put in five years of service in the State/Central Government are not eligible to apply, even though they are within the age limit.

(B) TNPSC Recruitment 2010 Educational Qualification:

Candidates should possess the following or its equivalent qualification on the date of this Notification, viz. 17-02-2010:

1. Master's degree in Library Science or Information Science or Documentation Science or an equivalent professional degree with not less than fifty five percentage of marks or its equivalent grade, where grading system is practiced and a consistently good academic record with knowledge on computerization of Library.
2. Pass in the National Eligibility Test (NET) or other accredited test like State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) in Library Science conducted for the purpose by the University Grants Commission or any other agency approved by the University Grants Commission.

Provided that a person who is or has been awarded a Ph.D Degree through a process of admission, registration, course work and external evaluation as laid down in the University Grants Commission (Minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D Degree) Regulation 2009, is exempted from passing the above tests".

Note:

1. Candidates should choose any one of the above centres and appear for the examination at their own expenses.
2. Request for change of centre will not be complied with.
3. The Commission reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of examination centres and to re-allot the candidates.
