Applications are invited from the Indian Nationals for the 2 (Two) vacant posts of Motor Driver-Cum Mechanic described below in the following Directorate/ Office of Survey of India, (Goverment, of India, Ministry of Science & Technology).

The particulars, terms and conditions for the recruitment of posts are as below :-

1. Name of the post: Motor Driver-Cum Mechanic.

3. Scale of pay: Rs.3050-75-3950-80-4590 and other allowances as admissible.

4. Essential Qualification:

1. Middle pass (8th standard),
2. Knowledge of Hindi/English.
3. Should possess a valid driving licence for both heavy and light vehicles (Truck, Jeep and Motorcycle etc.) The licence should also be valid for hilly areas and it must not have any adverse entries.
4. Should have a good knowledge of the general procedures of daily, weekly and other types of maintenances of the vehicles. He should be capable of locating defects and repairing the defects of the various components of Petrol/ diesel engines, lighting systems, suspension and steering systems, mechanical transmission systems and hydraulic brake systems of Motor transport vehicle and should have knowledge of various lubricants and their specific uses.
5. Should have adequate knowledge of the works of fitter and should be well conversant with the duties of a Motor Mechanic.

5. Other Desirable Qualification:

1. Should have 1(one) year experience of working as Motor Mechanic in any repair workshop/Garage.
2. Should possess a Certificate/Diploma in automobile trade from any recognized institution.

6. Age: 18 to 27 years for General category applicants and 18 to 30 years for Other Backward Classes (OBC) as on 10th December, 2007.

The upper age limit is also relaxable for retrenched Central Goverment employees / Departmental candidates / Ex-serviceman and other eligible categories as per rules.

7. Place of work:- The employment is with liability to serve any where in the Union of India including Military service with a mobilized Survey unit.

Accordingly, if required the candidates selected at New Delhi office can be ordered to serve any where in India as and when required and with the mobile Survey Units.

They must be prepared to drive in plain and hilly areas of India

8. Methods of Selection:

1. The candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria of the above post will be called to undergo the test and interview for assessment of actual knowledge of Motor Driving and its maintenance repair.
2. The candidate must note that mere fulfillment of essential qualifications do not make them eligible to be called for test and interview. In the event of a large number of applications being received in response to this advertisement or through concerned employment exchange, the concerned Appointing Authority reserves the right to limit the number of candidates to be called for the test by applying an appropriate criteria
3. The duration of selection process (test and interview) may extend to about 2 days and candidates are required to make their own arrangement for stay. The date of selection test will be intimated directly to the candidates.

On prescribed application form. The under mentioned documents should positively be enclosed with the application form,

1. One self addressed 10X22 cm. size envelope duly affixed worth Rs.22/- Postal Stamp on it.
2. Attested photo copies of Educational qualification, valid Driving License, Caste certificate, Date of Birth certificate in support,
3. Attested photo copies of experience certificate of Motor Driving, Vehicle repairing work and certificate/diploma of Automobile trade if any.
4. Two pass port size photograph of the candidate duly attested by a Gazetted officer one should be affixed on the application form. Candidates already in service of Central/State Goverment & those of public sector undertaking and autonomous body financed by the Goverment, of India should apply through proper channel. They are also required to attach "No Objection Certificate" from their present employer along with the application form.

10. Last date: Application forms should reach the International Boundary Directorate, (SGO) on or before 10-06-2009 w.r.t positively.

Applications received after the last date will not be entertained.
