Applications are invited from male Indian citizens who fulfill the following eligibility criterion for filling up the vacancies in the rank of Constable (Driver) in the pay scale of Rs.5200-20200 in the grade pay of Rs.2000/- and other allowances admissible to Central Government employees from time' to time in "Sashastra Seema Bal".

The last date of receipt of application is 08.10.2009.

However the closing date for receipt of applications (by post) for the candidates from North-Eastern States, Sikkim, Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba, Lahaul & Spiti and Kinnaur Districts of Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh Division, Kashmir of J&K State and the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar islands and the Lakshadweep will be 15.10.2009.

Note:

  1. 10% vacancies are reserved for Ex- Servicemen, which may later be filled up by fresh candidates, if suitable "ex-servicemen do not turn-up.
  2. The post is temporary but likely to become permanent. The number of vacancies is subject to change.

Place of duty: Any where within as well as outside the Territory of India.

1. Age:

  1. 18 to 28 years ( Cut off date for age will be 1st August, 2009)
  2. Upper age limit is relaxable for SC/ST by 5 years and 3 years for OBC.
  3. The upper age relaxation for Government servants is upto 35 Years.
  4. The relaxation in upper age limit of 5 years shall also be admissible to the candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the state of J&K during the period from 1.01.1980 to 31.12.1989.
  5. Five years of age relaxation will also be granted to the children and dependent family members of those killed in the riots (1984 riots and 2002 communal riots of Gujarat).SC/ST/OBC, relaxation, as per Govt. instructions, will be in addition to this relaxation. Children means
    1. Son (including adopted son); or Dependent family members mean: Spouse or
    2. Children or
    3. Brother in case of unmarried Govt. servant who was wholly dependent on the Government Servant at the time of his killing in the riots. Children and dependent family members of those killed in the riots (1984 riots and 2002 communal riots of Gujarat) will produce a certificate from the concerned District Collector.
  6. One time relaxation in upper age limit for 3 years in respect of the trained ITVs of SSB, in addition to the existing relaxation in age limit for SC/ST/OBC category candidates for recruitment in SSB as Constables as a special case, subject to fulfillment of other prescribed eligibility condition. Candidates must produce supporting documents in their claim.

2. Educational qualification:

  1. Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized board/university.
  2. Must possess valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License.

3. Physical Standards

  1. Height: 170 Cms 165 Cms for candidates belongings to hill areas of Garhwal, Kumaon, Himachal Pradesh, Gorkhas, Dogras, Marathas, Sikkimis, Leh and Ladakh, Kashmir Valley and North East. Scheduled Tribes including Mizos and Nagas :162.5 Cms.

    5. Weight:Corresponding to height.

  3. Eye sight: The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of two eyes without correction i.e. without wearing of glasses.

General:

Candidates must not have knock-knee, flat foot varicose vein or squint in eyes and they should possess high colour vision.

They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.

They should conform to the medical standards prescribed by the Force and should be declared fit by the Medical Officers of SSB.

The medical certificate obtained from elsewhere will not be entertained.

In the event of any doubt or dispute decision of SSB shall be final.

6. Conditions for Ex-Servicemen:

For recruitment of Ex-servicemen following will be the criterion:-

Physical standard: Total relaxation.

Medical category: Category - A.

Character: Exemplary/Very Good/Good.

Break in service: Not more than 24 months.

Education: Matriculation or Army education should be equivalent to matriculation.

Age limit: Age concession for Ex-servicemen will be allowed in accordance with the orders issued by the Govrnment of India from time to time and they will be allowed to deduct Military service from their actual age and such resultant age should not exceed the prescribed age limit by more than three years.

Eligible wards (Sons) of serving/retired SSB personnel may also apply if so desired accordingly.

Applications of wards may be sent through proper channel from the present posted unit/ last served unit of SSB.
