A. SSB Age Limit : Between 18 to 25 Years.

Age Relaxation in SSB :

  1. There will be relaxation in age up to 5 years for SC / ST and 3 years for OBC.
  2. The upper age limit up to 5 years is also relaxable in case of candidates already in Govt. Service and 35 years in the case of Departmental candidates which are on the same line or allied cadre and where a relationship could be established that the services rendered in a particular post will be useful for efficient discharge of the duties in the post to which the recruitment is made.
  3. The above concession will be admissible only where an employee has rendered not les than 3 years continuous service under Govt. / Department.
  4. Every ex-serviceman who has put in not less than six months continuous service in the Armed Forces of the Union shall be allowed to deduct the period of such service from his actual age and if the resultant age not exceeds prescribed age limit (i.e.25 years) by more than 3 years he shall be deemed to satisfy the condition regarding age limit.
  5. The relaxation in upper age limit of 5 years shall also be admissible to all candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the state of J&K during the period from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989 and will produce a certificate from the concerned District Collector.
  6. Five years of age relaxation will also be granted to the children and dependents family members of those killed in the 1984 riots and 2002 communal riots of Gujarat, SC / ST / OBC relaxation, as per government instructions will be in addition to this relaxation.
  7. Children means Son (including adopted Son) Dependent family members mean:
    1. Spouse Or
    2. Children or Brother in the case of unmarried Govt. servant who was wholly dependent on the government servant at the time of his killing in the riot will produce a certificate from the concerned District Collector.
  8. Children and dependent family members of those killed in the riots (1984 riots and 2002 communal riots of Gujarat) will also produce a certificate from the concerned District Collector.

Note: The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be closing date for receipt of applications from the candidates in India (and not the closing date prescribed for those in far flung area).

B. SSB 2010 Education Qualification:

  1. Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent from a recognized Board / Institute.
  2. Typing speed 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi.

C. SSB Physical Standards :

Relaxation: For the candidates falling in the categories of Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Gorakhas, Dogras, Marathas and candidates belonging to the states of Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, Leh & ladakh regions of J&K.

3. SSB Medical Standards : Eye Sight (With or Without glasses)

The candidates must not have Knock-Knee, Flat Foot, Varicose Veins or Squint in the eyes and they should possess high colour vision. They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any Physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.

Condition for Ex-Servicemen:

Ex-service men means a person, who has served in any rank (whether as a combatant or non combatant) in regular Army, Navy and Air Force of the Indian Union, but does not include a person who has served in the Defence Security Corps, the Central Reserve Engineering Force, the Lok Sahayka Sewa and the Para- Military Forces.

For recruitment of above Ex-service for the post of HC (M) in SSB following will be the criterion:

  1. Physical Standard : Total relaxation.
  2. Medical Category : Category - A.
  3. Character : Exemplary / Very Good / Good.
  4. Break in Service : Not more than 24 months.
  5. Education : Matriculation.
  6. Ex-servicemen having put in not less than 15 years service in allied cadre / same line of duties in Army / Navy / Air Force will also be eligible to compete the test against the vacancies reserved for them.

  7. Age limit : Actual age (-) period of military service and if the resultant age does not exceed prescribed age limit (i.e. 25 years) by more than three years he shall be deemed to satisfy the condition regarding age limit.
