Development Educational Communication Unit

Development and Educational Communication Unit (DECU) of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is involved in the system definition, planning, implementation and socio-economic research & evaluation of satellite-based societal applications.

The Major Programs - at present, of DEGU to promote the satellite-based communication systems to support development, education and training - include Tele-Education (Edusat), Tele-Medicine, Gramsat Program (incl. Training & Development Communication Channel), and Satcom Applications (incl. Village Resource Centres, Disaster Management Program for S&T, etc.).

The DECU roles/activities for these are Satcom Networks (Configuration, Implementation & Utilization), Social Research & Evaluation, Content Generation, Transmission & Training, and support in terms of Studio & Technical Facilities.

DECU now proposes to recruit the following staff for its above mentioned programs and activities:

1. Social Researcher 'A'

Minimum/Essential Requirements:

Post-Graduate Degree (First Class) in any of the Social Sciences, from a recognized University / Institution.

Category: Unreserved) Job Requirements & Desirable Qualifications/Experience:The person will assist the senior social scientists in the social research & evaluation related activities in Social Research Division (SRD) of DECU. Fluency in spoken and written English & Hindi, familiarity with the use of Personal Computers and the use of software for word processing, data base & statistical data analysis, etc. are desirable.

The selected candidate is required to work on all the aspects of research projects including library research, preparation of instruments, data collection, visits to fields (anywhere in the country), data entry, checking & editing, report writing, etc.

Pay Scale: Rs.9300-34800 (Grade Pay Rs.4600) in Pay Band-2.

2. Scientific Assistant - B (Media Librarian)

Minimum/Essential Requirements:

Graduate + Master's Degree in Library Science / Library & Information Science or equivalent with First Class, from a recognized University/Institute. Experience in relevant field in a reputed organisation is desirable.

Category: Unreserved Job Requirements & Desirable Qualifications/Experience: Experience in managing a library (especially, video tape, CD/DVD media, digital tapes, computer tapes, 16/35/70 mm films, in a reputed organization/media agency), use of PC, MS-Office & Library Management software, preferably knowledge of Content generation / Program production & Broadcasting / Transmission, archival & retrieval of broadcast material, and good command over English language. The person will be the In-charge of and look after the Tape Library in DECU.

Pay Scale: Rs.9300-34800 (Grade Pay Rs.4200) in Pay Band-2

3. Scientific Assistant C (Multi-Media)

Minimum/Essential Requirements:

Degree / Diploma in Commercial/Fine Arts (4-year course after HSC or 5-year course after SSC) + Multimedia Course / Training (6 months minimum) from a reputed institution. Experience in relevant field in a reputed organisation is desirable.or

Graduate + Multimedia Course / Training (6 months minimum) + at least 2 years of relevant experience in a reputed organisation, after obtaining Degree/Diploma & MM Course/Training. (All qualifications must be from recognized university/institute and with First Class).

Category: Unreserved Job Requirements & Desirable Qualifications/Experience: The person should have in-depth knowledge/understanding of Multimedia (MM) software, hardware & networking aspects. The person will work in the MM Lab. of DECU as a part of content generation/program production.

The person with expertise in some (or many) of the MM software - i.e. Maya, 3DS Max, Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, Toon Boom, Harmony, Combustion. Page Maker. Corel draw, Flash, Director, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Sound Forge, Muster / Spider, etc.- shall be preferred.

4. Programme Assistant

Minimum/Essential Requirements: Master's Degree in Communication/Development Communication or equivalent (First Class) from a recognized University / Institution,

Category: Unreserved Job Requirements & Desirable Qualifications/Experience: The person will be assisting the producers in the Content Generation Group (CGG) of DECU.

The selected candidate will have to assist the producers in ail the aspects of program production-i.e. preparation of budget estimates, arranging rehearsals, issuing call sheets, fixing studio/outdoor recording schedules, etc.

He/she will arrange the necessary planning meetings with all concerned and will maintain production accounts under the overall supervision of the concerned producer. He/she will be expected to show special Initiative and ability in the conceptualization and planning of the programs.

Pay Scale: Rs.9300-34800 (Grade Pay Rs.4600) in Pay Band-2.
