The Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun, a constituent laboratory under Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) is a premier institute in the area of Petroleum & hydrocarbon industry, accredited with ISO 9001 certification.

It provides Research and Development as well as technical support to the downstream sector of the hydrocarbon industry.

It develops and transfers technologies to industries in the area of petroleum refining, natural gas, petrochemicals, chemicals and utilisation of petroleum products, provides technical services and imparts training to the personnel of the related industry.

The institute has large number of qualified, experienced and dedicated R & D Scientists supported by skilled Technical and Administrative personnel.

The Institute has developed over 70 technologies and licensed 38 technologies with the cumulative capacity of about 28 million tonnes per annum.

The institute has the distinction of bagging eight CSIR Best Technology Awards, FICCI, ICMA and NRDC awards for its technologies.

It is currently pursuing major R&D projects of national importance in the field of Petroleum Refining, New Generation Fuels, Catalysis, Lubes and Additives, Organic Synthesis, Biotechnology, Engine Technology, Combustion and Tribology.

The Director, Indian Institute of Petroleum Invites applications from Indian nationals, who are young, dynamic, self motivated, talented and experienced with adequate leadership qualities for under mentioned posts:

1. Post Code: B1

Area: Chemical Science

Number of Posts: 03 (02-ST, 01-OH)

Post/Group-Grade & Pay: Scientist Gr.IV (1) PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 + 5400/- Grade Pay

  1. Post No: 1(b) & 2(b), Reserved for ST Candidates, (Single application may be sent for these two posts), post is also identified suitable for OA & OL candidates.

Age Limit: 18-40 years

Essential Qualifications and Experience: Ist class M.Sc. Chemistry (Organic/Physical/Inorganic) or equivalent qualification OR Ph.D (Organic/Physical Chemistry) in one or more areas as described in job requirement.

Desirable: Experience in the areas of job requirement will be preferred. Candidate with PCM background will be preferred.

Job requirement: To carry out R & D in any of the following areas

  1. Petrochemicals, Speciality chemicals / polymers and green chemistry.
  2. Heavy ends bitumen, coke, carbon materials etc.
  3. Pet coke/coal gasification, FT synthesis, Gas to liquid
  4. Biomass conversion to fuels and chemicals
  5. Advance separation processes such as adsorption, membranes, absorption and solvent extraction
  6. Recovery/abatement of volatile organic compounds
  7. characterisation of petroleum products by HPLC, GC, FTIR, XRD, SEM, TEM etc.
  8. Green chemistry

Essential Qualifications and Experience: As given for the post no. 1(b) & 2(b).

Desirable: As given for the post no. 1(b) & 2(b).

Area: Mechanical Engineering

Number of Posts: 01 (OBC).

Post/Group-Grade & Pay: Scientist Gr.-IV(1) PB-3 Rs.15600-39100 + 5400/- Grade Pay

(i) Post No: 4(b), Reserved for OBC Candidate, post is also identified suitable for OL candidate

Age Limit: 18-38 years

Essential Qualification & Experience: Ist Class B.E/B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering or ME/M.Tech in Mech or Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering

Desirable: Experience in one or more areas of job requirement will be preferred.

Job Requirement: To carry out R & D in any of the following areas:

  1. I.C. Engines, New generation fuels, mass emission, CFD.
  2. Tribology/nanotribology.
  3. Development of burners and furnaces & improvement of their thermal efficiency, combustion technology.
