Recruitment of Meritorious Sports Persons in Income Tax Department, Gujarat

The Chief Commissioner of Income - Tax, (Cadre Controlling Authority), Ahmedabad, Invites applications for the recruitment of meritorious Sportspersons in different games / sports as listed below in Group 'C’ posts for various Income-Tax offices situated in Gujarat.

The posts, pay scales and eligibility criteria are as below:

Eligibility Conditions

01. Age Limit: 20 to 27 years as on 25/8/2009 (ie. the closing date of receipt of application) (Upper age relaxable up to 5 years for General/OBC candidates and 10 years in case of SC/ST candidates).

The age limit is also relaxable for Departmental candidates up to 35 years, (Relaxable upto 40 years in case of SC/ST Department candidates).

02. Nationality / Citizenship:

A Candidate must be Either:

A citizen of India, or
A subject of Nepal, or
A subject of Bhutan, or
A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before 1st January, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the Examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.

03. Sports Eligibility:

Appointments can be made of a Sportsman Considered Meritorious with Reference to the Following Criteria:

Sportsman / Sportswoman who have Represented:

A State in a National or the Country in an International competition in any of the games / sports mentioned in the list; or
Their University in the Inter-University tournaments conducted by the Inter-University Sports Board in any of the games / sports mentioned in the list given below.

04. Selection of the Candidates: The application will be scrutinized and suitable candidates will be short listed for further selection procedure.

For such short listed candidates a physical test will be conducted in each discipline of sports, as may suit the requirements there of. Successful applicants, thereafter, may have to appear for a written test followed by an interview.

Success in the above tests confers no right to appointment unless Department is satisfied after such inquiry as may be considered necessary that the candidate is suitable in all respect for appointment to the post.

9 Volley Ball (Male only)

Note: In case suitable candidates are not available in any of the above game/ sports, the Department has a right not to consider that game / sports.

06. How to Apply: Application must be submitted in the following format addressed to the following address and should reach his office at the above address latest by 5.00 PM on 25/8/2009.

On Envelop Please Mention Clearly:

07. Selected candidates to give an undertaking not to apply for Inter-Charge transfer for a minimum period of 10 years.

08. Only attested copies of documents in support of claim regarding date of birth, educational qualification, sports eligibility certificates, Caste Certificate, etc. should invariably accompany the" application. Original Certificates will have to be produced if called for interview.

09. The candidate on appointment will be liable for posting at any place in Gujarat in the Region of Chief Commissioner of Income-Tax (Cadre Controlling Authority), Ahmedabad.

The declaration to this effect to work at any place should be submitted along with the application.

10. Application duly signed and completed in all respects should be sent so as to reach the office of the Chief Commissioner of Income-Tax (CCA), Ahmedabad latest by 5.00 PM on 25/8/2009.

11. Separate application for each post should be sent.

12. Application received after the above date will not be entertained under any circumstances. Incomplete and unsigned applications will be rejected and no correspondence in the matter will be made with the applicant.

Short listed candidates will be called for above said tests and interview. The date and venue for tests and interview will be intimated to the short listed candidates in due course.
