Eligibility Criteria Canara Bank Recruitment



2.Eligibility Criteria:

A. Nationality / Citizenship:

A candidate must be either

  • A citizen of India or
  • A subject of Nepal or
  • A subject of Bhutan or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 01.01.1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania. Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia & Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) or (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. A Candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination / interview conducted by the Bank, but on final selection the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificates has been issued to him by the Government of India.

Note [Common to all posts]:

1.For posts where experience is essential / desirable, it should be full time in the relevant field of the post applied for and will only be counted from the date of acquiring the prescribed qualification.

2.Computer Literacy: Operating computer systems in MS-DOS, MS Windows, Basic concepts of Networking & Connectivity, MS Office [Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.] shall be an essential qualification, which a candidates must either possess or acquire within 6 months from the date of joining the Bank.

Hindi Knowledge: The candidates should acquire working knowledge of Hindi, if not possessed already, before completion of probationary period.

3.Relaxation in Upper Age Limit

  • Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe candidates by 5 years;
  • Ex-servicemen by 5 years;
  • Other Backward Classes candidates by 3 years;
  • All persons who are ordinarily domiciled in Kashmir Division of J&K State during 01.01.80 to 31.12.89 by 5 years;
  • Persons with Disabilities by 10 years.

Note:

a] The relaxation in upper age limit is cumulative as per Govt. of India guidelines.

b] Persons eligible for age relaxation under 3(iv) above must produce the domicile certificate at the time of interview from the District Magistrate in the Kashmir Division in whose jurisdiction he / she had ordinarily resided or any other authority designated in this regard by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir to the effect that the candidate had ordinarily domiciled in the Kashmir Division of the State of J&K during the period from 01.01.80 to 31.12.89.

c] An Ex-servicemen who has once joined in a Govt. job on the Civil side after availing the benefits given to him as an Ex-servicemen for his re-employment, his Ex-servicemen status for the purpose of re-employment in Government ceases.

For Employees Of Canara Bank:

Relaxation in age is given to the employees of Canara Bank to the extent of their service in the relative department in the Bank subject to maximum of 5 years, for applying to higher grade posts. This relaxation is not applicable in case of Manager - Security [Post Code – 32] in MMG Scale II posts.

4. Application Fee Including Postal Charges (Non Refundable)

For SC / ST / Persons with Disabilities category candidates Rs.50/- for each post (towards postage). For all others, including OBCs & Ex-servicemen Rs.300/- for each post, inclusive of all charges. Candidates who are applying for more than one post have to Register separately for each post and submit separate application (i.e. print-out) for each post along with the Application fee and copies of relevant certificates / testimonials.

Note:

  • The requisite application fee / postage must be paid by means of a crossed Demand Draft issued by a Scheduled Commercial Bank in favour of “Canara Bank Recruitment of Specialist Officer – Project 2007”, payable at Mumbai.
  • Demand Draft should be dated between 17.10.2007 & 05.11.2007. Even if the last date of registration changes due to technical reasons, the valid dates of demand drafts will not be changed.
  • Payment of application fee by Cash / Cheque / Money Orders / Postal stamps etc will not be accepted.
  • Candidates must write his / her name, post code / s, date of birth on the reverse of the Demand Draft.

5. Selection Procedure

For JMG Scale I Posts Test + GD and / or Interview. For all other posts Shortlisting + GD and / or Interview

However, the Bank reserves the right to change the selection procedure from Test to Direct Interview or vice versa, depending upon the number of applications received for the post. The change, if any, shall be communicated to the candidates in advance.

The test may be conducted in ON-LINE mode. The test shall consist of Objective Test on Test of Reasoning; Test of Quantitative Aptitude, Test of General Awareness, Test of English Language and Test on the relevant area of specialization. The detailed information regarding the on-line test will be given to the candidates in the “Acquaint Yourself Booklet”, which will be sent along with the call letter for examination.

Merely satisfying the eligibility norms / pass in the test do not entitle the candidate to be called for interview. The Bank reserves the right to call only the requisite number of candidates for interview after preliminary screening / short listing with reference to the candidate’s qualification, experience and suitability etc. The final selection will be based on the performance in the Interview only.

6. Date of Test

The test is tentatively fixed on Sunday, the 23.12.2007 at the following Centres.

Includes DA, CCA & other admissible allowances payable and Quarters, Conveyance, Medical, LFC etc., as per the rules of the Bank depending up on the place of posting.

8. Probation

Two years for posts in JMG Scale-I & MMG Scale-II, and one year for MMG Scale-III, SMG Scale-IV & SMG Scale-V, from the date of joining the services of the Bank
